  • Life is full of challenges that can leave us feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck. As a former Zen monk and an adventurous explorer of the human experience, I bring a grounded, compassionate, and insightful presence to therapy. Together, we'll create a safe, nonjudgmental space to delve into the roots of depression, anxiety, trauma, or dissatisfaction with life.

I believe these struggles, while difficult, can serve as doorways to profound transformation—a path to a life that feels authentic, meaningful, and free. Drawing on my rich and diverse life experiences—from years spent in silent meditation retreats to traversing cultural landscapes around the world—I offer a unique perspective that integrates mindfulness, self-compassion, and emotional resilience.

Our work will focus on untangling old patterns, healing emotional wounds, and building skills for balance, flexibility, and self-acceptance. Whether you're navigating everyday challenges, grappling with deeper existential questions, or seeking to overcome self-doubt, I'm here to meet you where you are, offering warmth, humor, and an open heart.

My integrative approach blends mindfulness, present-moment awareness, and actionable strategies to help you move forward—not by avoiding life's challenges but by embracing them with courage and intention. Together, we'll chart a path toward freedom and vitality, unburdened by the past and alive with possibility.

  • Therapy with me is a balance of support and challenge—a space where we can deeply explore your inner world and move toward a more liberated, fulfilling life. While we honor your past and envision your future, our focus remains rooted in the present moment, cultivating awareness and intention in the here and now.

I believe in providing practical tools and exercises to help you "open up, be present, and do what matters." By emphasizing awareness, choice, and values, I aim to help you break free from habitual patterns and emotional reactivity, empowering you to embrace intentional, values-driven action.

My approach integrates the wisdom of Eastern mindfulness with evidence-based Western therapies like Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TF-ACT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Together, we'll explore all aspects of your experience—including thoughts, emotions, the nervous system, and relationships—uncovering the patterns that shape your life.

Through this collaborative work, you'll cultivate self-compassion, cognitive flexibility, and emotional resilience, paving the way for a life that feels spontaneous, courageous, and aligned with your deepest values. My goal is to empower you to live authentically and freely, unencumbered by past habits and patterns, and to help you build a vibrant, purposeful life that reflects your true self.

  • My journey to becoming a therapist was born from a lifelong curiosity about the human condition and a deep desire to understand life's complexities and possibilities. Even as a teenager, I was captivated by psychology, philosophy, and spirituality, seeking answers to the profound questions that shape our existence.

Driven by this passion, I embarked on a path of firsthand exploration. I hitchhiked across the United States, slept among the redwoods, and photographed villagers in Burma. I spent five years living abroad in countries like Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and Honduras, immersing myself in diverse cultures and perspectives.

Over seven years in Zen centers and monasteries—including a cumulative year in silent meditation retreats—I cultivated inner confidence, compassion, and a profound ability to be present. These experiences helped me navigate my own "dark night of the soul," transforming challenges like poverty and depression into resilience and strength.

Working in wilderness therapy in Oregon's high desert and living off-grid taught me to respect nature's wisdom and the power of simplicity. My path as a Zen monk included training in Buddhist practices across Japan, Thailand, Burma, and the U.S., shaping my grounded and holistic approach to therapy.

These rich and diverse experiences have equipped me to meet you where you are, with warmth, curiosity, and understanding. The tools and insights I've gained now guide my work with clients, offering pathways to growth, healing, and transformation. Whether you're navigating trauma, seeking self-acceptance, or searching for clarity, I'm here to walk alongside you as we work together to discover freedom, resilience, and meaning.

  • Anxiety, Depression, & Trauma

Anxiety, depression, and trauma often intertwine, creating challenges that can feel overwhelming. My therapeutic approach addresses these struggles at their root, fostering present-moment awareness, self-compassion, and resilience. Together, we'll identify and release the patterns that hold you back, empowering you to move beyond suffering into a life of connection, joy, and freedom. Through our work, you'll unlock the potential for a lighter, more vibrant, and deeply fulfilling life.

    Meditators

Meditation and spiritual practice often arise from an acute awareness of suffering but can bring unique mental health challenges. Finding a therapist who truly understands both the depth of intensive spiritual practice and the complexities of mental health can be rare. With years of experience in meditation and monastic life, I bridge this gap. I offer support that honors both the therapeutic and spiritual dimensions of your journey, helping you cultivate mental clarity and emotional resilience without compromising your inner path.

    Military & Law Enforcement

Military and law enforcement careers come with extraordinary stress, often contributing to elevated mental health challenges. Unfortunately, stigma, fears of appearing weak, and cultural barriers can make seeking support difficult. Growing up in a military family has instilled in me profound respect and empathy for those who serve. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to process experiences and work through challenges without fear of judgment. My approach combines compassionate understanding with practical strategies, empowering you to find growth and healing while honoring the strength and sacrifices of your service.
